BILL BROADFOOT

1922 - 1999

William Ramsay Broadfoot, beloved husband of Margaret “Peg” Broadfoot of Taber, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at the age of 76 years.
Bill was born the son of Robert and Annie Broadfoot on June 14, 1922 in Calgary. He attended school in Bassano where he graduated as Valedictorian in grade twelve. Following graduation he immediately enlisted in the Army and achieved the rank of Lieutenant with the Signal Corp. He received an honourable discharge in 1945. Returning to Bassano, Bill and Peg were married on a blazing hot day in August 1947. Bill furthered his education by attending the University of Alberta and received his Bachelors of Education Degree. His career as a teacher began in Rosemary and then to Taber teaching at Dr. Hammon and Central School where he was principal for sixteen years and retiring six years later in 1979. Bill’s passions included playing golf and curling and he was a jigsaw and crossword puzzle enthusiast. During his retirement he loved spending time with his family especially enjoying the accomplishments of his six grandchildren both academically and athletically. Bill and Peg enjoyed a lot of travelling over the years to many destinations.
Besides his wife Peg, Bill leaves to cherish his memory his children Douglas William Broadfoot and his sons Dugan and Ryan of Taber and Anne Margaret (Rick) Cseke and their children Tyler, Logan, Colby and Rennie of Lethbridge; a sister-in-law Ethel (Mayme) & Robert Dunn of Lethbridge; a sister-in-law Lettye Rennie of Whitecourt and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Robert and Annie Broadfoot; a step-mother Grace Broadfoot of Calgary in 1997; twin daughters in 1948 and a brother-in-law James Rennie Sr. of Whitecourt in 1999.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Monday, May 31, 1999 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating.
