VIVIAN PRICE
1906 - 2003
Vivian Myrie (Carley) Price of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. Sidney Price, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at the age of 96 years.
Vivian was born on December 3, 1906 at Fort Worth, Texas. The family moved to Taber from Rock Rapids, Iowa when she was eight. She attended school in Taber and St. Theresa’s Academy Convent in Medicine Hat. She graduated from the Holy Cross School of Nursing in Calgary in 1926 and continued to work at the Holy Cross Hospital. She married Sidney Price on October 10, 1932. Vivian was active in her church and community and served in many capacities. She was a member of the Retired Nurses Association, volunteered for meals on wheels, was a Charter Member of the Taber Lioness Club, became the first woman member of the United Church Board of Stewards, was a leader and organist for the Knox Junior choir, a life member of Knox U.C.W., a member of Holy Cross Alumni and a volunteer with the Red Cross as a Home Nursing Instructor. In her spare time she enjoyed entertaining friends and family, playing the piano and playing bridge with her three Bridge groups. Vivian spent many winters in Arizona and loved to travel, especially to Waterton.
She will be forever remembered in the hearts of her son Ralph Hoyt (Barbara) Price and her daughter Margaret (Lawrence) Cherneski; grandchildren Cindy (Doug) Pescod, Allison Price, Joel Price, Susan (Cam) Cleland, Laura (Robyn) Darichuk and Nancy (Terry) Wegener; great grandchildren Colyn, Sydney and Carson Cleland, Jessica and Cody Wegener and Hayley Pescod.
She was predeceased by her mother Bula Carley, father Ralph Carley, husband Sidney Price and daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Price.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, October 2, 2003 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment followed in the Taber Memorial Garden.
