NORMAN MICKELBERRY

1926 - 2003

Norman Huston Mickelberry passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre on Friday, August 22, 2003 at the age of 77 years.
Norman was born in Grantham, Alberta on June 25, 1926 a son to Elmer and Agnes Mickelberry. He was raised on the farm in Grantham and received his schooling at Rossland School and in Vauxhall. On June 29, 1944 he responded to the call of duty and enlisted in the Canadian Armed forces...only four days after his 18th birthday. He was discharged from the forces on June 1, 1946. Following his discharge he worked at Vauxhall Frozen Foods as a meat cutter and later at Intercontinental Packers in Saskatoon. Norman was also employed in the oil industry in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. He married Edna Schmidt on May 1, 1953 and shortly after moved to Vauxhall where he worked on various farms before purchasing their own farm south of Vauxhall. Norman continued to farm and later rented his farm out when he gained employment with Sun Oil. Edna passed away in 1965. He married Ann Zalesak in 1970 and tragedy struck when she passed away two months later due to a car accident. In 1978 he sold his farm and went to work for McNiven Excavating. Norman was a longtime member of the Vauxhall Royal Canadian Legion.
Norman will be dearly missed by his daughter Cheryl Jensen and his granddaughter, Devonee Jensen both of Lethbridge; brothers and sisters, Irene (Andy) Pfaff of Red Deer, Margaret (Bud) Heck of Lethbridge, Bud (Brenda) of Taber, Jim (Betty) of Red Deer, Dorothy (Tony) Lange of Edmonton, Barb (Bryan) Watts of Lethbridge, Betty of the United States, Verna (Ron) McDowell of Ponoka and Sharon (Ike) Fehr of Taber as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
