AUDREY VANDERSTEEN

1915 - 2003

Audrey Vandersteen of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. Huig Vandersteen, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Monday, August 11, 2003 at the age of 88 years.
Audrey was born at Alblasserdam, Holland on May 13, 1915, the daughter of Gerrit and Alieda de Jong. She married Huig Vandersteen on July 22, 1937 and they enjoyed nearly 60 years of married life. They immigrated to Canada in 1952 settling in Melfort, Saskatchewan. They started the family farm at Taber in 1960 and Audrey has resided at Taber Extendicare since 1997.
She will be forever missed by her children Jerry (Vena) Vandersteen, Joanne (Dick) de Heer and Harry (Verna) Vandersteen all of Taber; nine grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; a brother Piet de Jong, a sister Teuntje Vink, sister-in-law Sjaan van Dillen and an aunt Riena Lichthart all of The Netherlands.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband Huig on May 13, 1997; two brothers Klaas van Dillen and Dirk (Corrie) de Jong; a sister Roos (Cent) van Dussen and a sister-in-law Teuntje de Jong.
Relatives and close friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A private family interment service was held at the Taber Memorial Garden on Thursday, August 14, 2003.
The Memorial Service will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church (corner of Hackney Dr. and Hwy.36) on Thursday, August 14 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Mike Vandyk officiating.
