JIM PICKLES
1907 - 1999
James Rothwell Pickles of Taber, beloved husband of the late Ivy Pickles, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at the age of 91 years.
Jim was born on May 22, 1907 at Nelson, Lancashire, England where he was raised and worked as a cotton weaver before the War. He served in the Royal Navy during World War II and after the War worked for the Gas company in Nelson, England along with the Nelson Ambulance Service. Jim and son Carl came to Canada in 1954 followed later in the year by his wife Ivy and children Jeffrey, Derrick and Brenda. Jim worked at the Taber Hospital and retired after 20 years of service. He was active in the L.D.S. Church and served as Branch President in Nelson, England. Jim later served as a High Priest, 1st Counselor in the Bishopric and on the High Council of the Taber Stake. In 1955 Jim and Ivy had their marriage sealed in the Alberta Temple.
James is survived by his children Carl (Connie) Pickles of Lethbridge, Jeffrey (Linda) Pickles of Mesa, Arizona, Derrick (Kathy) Pickles of Mesa, Arizona and Brenda (George) Henline of Aden; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchidren.
He was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret Pickles; sister Evelyn; brothers Harry and Robert; granddaughter Debra Jean Pickles and by his wife Ivy.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Monday, January 11, 1999 at 1:00 P.M. with Bishop Jerry Haslam conducting. Interment followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
