BILL JOHNSON

1919 - 1998

Wilbern Shields Johnson of Vauxhall, beloved husband of Bessie Johnson, passed away at Taber on Sunday, December 27, 1998 at the age of 79 years.
Bill was born in Taber on January 5, 1919, the first son of the late Wilbern S. and Amelia Johnson of Barnwell. He was married to Grace Birch Johnson in Barnwell on December 12, 1939 where they farmed. They moved to Vauxhall in 1945 where he farmed and ranched. Grace passed away on November 20, 1977 and Bill later married Bessie McCarley on December 1, 1979. Together they resided in the town of Vauxhall where he was active in the community and his church. Bill could be found everyday out at the farm with his cattle right up until the time of his passing.
Besides his loving wife Bessie, Bill leaves to cherish his memory his children, daughters Diane Virostek of Enchant and her family Renae (Michael) Putici and Shane (Emely) Virostek; Connie (Howie) Yanosik of Lethbridge and their family Georgia (Penny) Sevcov and Leanne (Brian) Rumberg; a son Bernie (Michele) Johnson of Sun Valley, Idaho and their family Seth and Samual Johnson; his step daughter Echo (Glenn) Coulter of Lethbridge and their family Nikki and Kelly; eight great grandchildren, Alex and Mackenzie Putici, Hailee, Rianne, Verne and Mikayla Virostek, Taylor and Dylann Rumberg; brothers Ronald (Sylvia) Johnson of Barnwell and Delbert (Lila) Johnson of Barnwell; a sister Vada (Wilford) Hansen of Logan, Utah and sisters-in-law Mae McCord of Vauxhall and Ruby (Bernal) Walker of Lethbridge as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Tabe, on Tuesday, December 29, 1998 from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and at the church prior to the funeral service from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.
The Funeral Service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Robert Mossey conducting. Interment followed at the Barnwell Cemetery.
