MARGARET MACKENZIE
1914 - 2003
Margaret E. MacKenzie passed away in Taber on Thursday, March 27, 2003 at the age of 88 years.
Margaret was born April 10, 1914 in Sydney River, Cape Breton ,Nova Scotia, the daughter of Samuel and Arabella MacRae MacKenzie. She lived most of her life in the United States. In 1936 Margaret graduated from Faulker Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, Massachusetts. Margaret served as a Army Nurse during WW11 in the US and served two years in the European Theater with the 16th General Hospital. As well, she served three campaigns and unit citation in Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland and two years in Germany with Army of Occupation. She was a captain in the United States Air Force Reserve and after her service, worked as a nurse, for a number of years in Kansas City and Nevada. She retired in 1976 and moved to Taber in 1996 to be closer to her sister Brida and her family.
Margaret will be fondly remembered by her sister Brida O’Donnell of Taber; nieces Margaret (Gary) Rombough and Shirley (Robert) Jensen and nephews Tim (Mandy) O’Donnell, Michael (Brenda) O’Donnell and Peter (Tamara) O’Donnell.
She was predeceased by her brother Robert MacKenzie and her dearly beloved step mother Agatha Johnson Mackenzie.
The Funeral Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at 7:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating.
Interment to take place at a later date at the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
