VELMA PARKS
1923 - 1998
It is with great sadness that we wish to announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother Velma Louise Parks of Taber at the age of 75 years on Sunday, September 20, 1998 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Velma was born on August 9, 1923 in Arcola, Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of two children born to Frank and Bella White. She grew up in Saskatchewan until moving to Retlaw in 1952 where she met and married William Parks Sr. They later moved to Taber where she raised her children and has resided until her passing.
Velma’s legacy includes her six children, JoAnn Cann (Jim Kocourek) of Biggar, Saskatchewan, Jean (Dale) Ellis of Taber, Judy (Desmond) McCarty of Leduc, William Jr. (Silvia) Parks of Taber, Lynnette (David) Jordan of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and Victor (Cathy) Parks of Georgia, United States; daughter-in-law Pat (Parks/Boychuk) of Taber; twenty two grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one sister Frances MacKenzie of Brooks.
Velma was predeceased by her parents Frank and Bella White, her husband William Parks Sr., son John “Jack” Parks and an infant son Frank.
The Funeral Service was held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 24, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Ken Crassweller officiating. A private family Interment took place on Friday, September 25, 1998 at the Taber Memorial Garden.
