RUEBEN LEDENE

1915 - 1998

Rueben Ledene, beloved husband of Mary Ledene of Taber, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 1998 at the age of 83 Years.
Rueben was born to Perry and Matilda Ledene on May 7, 1915 in Kenmare, North Dakota. In 1929 he moved with his family to Canada settling in the Scandia area. He received most of his schooling in Scandia and later met Mary Johnson and then married her on October 14, 1939 in Medicine Hat. They would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in October of 1999. Together they raised their family of two girls and a boy. For thirty years, Rueben worked as an elevator manager at Scandia and in Vauxhall. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and acquired the skill of wood working which was a keen interest of his.
Besides his loving wife Mary, Rueben is survived by his children, a son Gerry (Donalda) of Strathmore and their children Ross and Heather; a daughter Jeanelle (Ray) Bryant of Taber and their children Chad and Carrie (Quincy) Jensen and their daughter Kiara; a daughter Wendy (Wayne) McLeod of Parksville, British Columbia and their children Tammy McLeod and her daughter Megan and Gidget McLeod and her daughters Amanda and Romy. He is also survived by a brother Ernest (Naomi); two sisters Mabel Ohrn and Delores (Art) Borchers and a sister-in-law Eva Ledene.
Rueben was predeceased by his parents Perry and Matilda Ledene; his brothers Paul, Albin and Kenneth; and his sisters Olga and Jeanette.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, September 8, 1998 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Wednesday, September 9, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Dan Doerksen officiating. Interment followed at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
