1921 - 2011
Stanley Rupert Hunt, beloved husband of Rose Hunt, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the age of 90 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, September 30, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
The Prayer Service will be held at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides Rose his loving wife of sixty five years, he is survived by his children Robert Hunt (Sheila Steele) of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, Barrie (Marilee) Hunt of Calgary, Beverley (Dave) Miller of Seattle, Washington, Kristine (Ken) McKay of Okotoks and Gregory Hunt (Pam Cooley) of Calgary; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Stan is also survived by his brother Norman (Marguerite) Hunt.
He was predeceased by his parents Rupert and Johanna; brothers Art, Dave, and Clifford and sister Phyllis Hall.
Stan was born in Medicine Hat on July 24, 1921 to Rupert and Johanna Hunt. At a young age his family moved to Lethbridge where he was raised and educated. He married Rose Chervinski on August 18, 1946 in Lethbridge where they started their family and resided until 1958. Stan was employed with the Canadian Sugar Factory, first in Picture Butte then, in 1960, transferring to Taber where he resided until his passing. Over the years Stan was active in the Lions, the Legion, the Volunteer Fire Department and the Handibus. As a young man Stan played various instruments and enjoyed playing sports, especially hockey and baseball while in more recent years golf. Throughout his life Stan had a passion for machinery and considered his favorite hobby to be “repairing stuff”. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
