1929 - 2011

John Lowen, beloved husband of the late Vera Lowen, passed away in Taber on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the age of 81 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, May 19, 2011 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
At John’s request, a private family funeral service (family and close friends) will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Elroy Senneker officiating. Burial to follow at the Vauxhall Mennonite Cemetery.
John is survived by his three sons, Rod (Mary) Lowen of Vauxhall and children Brandi (Phil) Fandrick and Brandon Lowen and his friend Kelsi; Ron (Jeanne) Lowen of Vauxhall and daughter Chelsey; Doug Lowen of Hays. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Pete (Mary) Lowen, Sarah Fast, Aggie Friesen, Lena Janzen, Mary (Jake) Unruh, Anne Skretting and Betty (Mike) Giacchetta; sister-in-law Lynn Thiessen and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Vera in 2006, four brothers and five brothers-in-law.
John was born in Beaverlodge on November 3, 1929, the son of Abraham & Gertrude Lowen. He married Vera Thiessen on May 24, 1957. John and Vera spent their married years together in the Vauxhall area.
