1941 - 2011
David Richard Fritz, beloved husband of Ethel Fritz, passed away in Taber on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the age of 70 years.
A private family burial service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden on Tuesday, March 29, 2011.
Dave is survived by his wife Ethel and their children Todd (Charlene) Fritz of Brooks, Todd’s son Cori and Charlene’s sons TJ & Tyson Linford; Michelle (Rod) McPhee of Brooks, their sons Chris (Keri) McPhee, Ben McPhee and Ben’s daughter Chihero; Trent (Brenda) Fritz of Taber and their daughter Brittany (Jake) Keenan. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen (Pete) Allen and Mag Hutchinson; two brothers, Gus (Shirley) Fritz and Ron (Linda) Fritz; sister-in-law Irma Fritz; brothers-in-law Ted Vayro, Larry (Judith) Vayro, Gordon (Gwen) Vayro, Clare (Glenda) Vayro and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents David & Catherine Fritz; brothers Joe, Tom and Mike Fritz; brothers-in-law Alex Hutchinson and Leo Ell; sisters Chris Ell and Catherine Fritz; sisters-in-law Ida Fritz and Frankie Fritz; grandson Cole Fritz and Ethel’s parents Ab & Vaneta Vayro.
Dave was born in Medicine Hat on January 16, 1941. His early years were spent in Bow Island before his family moved to Taber when he was six. At the age of fifteen, Dave went to work at Johnson Saw Mill near Cowley. In 1963, Dave married Ethel Vayro. He then was employed as a long haul driver from Taber to Vancouver for a few years. The next thirty four years, Dave worked for Cliff & Clare’s Transport. He finished his driving career with Chinook Carriers, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Dave was an avid curler and enjoyed golfing. He was a lifetime member of the Taber Oilmen’s Association and a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
