1913 - 2010

Annie Estella Reid (nee Nielsen) of Edmonton (formerly of Taber), beloved wife of the late Lloyd Reid, passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter Joan, on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the age of 96 years.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Monday, May 31, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell officiating. Burial to follow at the Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge.
Mourning her loss & cherishing memories of her kind and gentle spirit is her daughter, Joan (Don) Tillotson of Edmonton. She will continue to live forever in the hearts of her grandsons, Chad (Leta) Layton of Lethbridge, Curtis (Kandi) Layton of Chestermere and her great grandchildren, Tanner, Amy, Jeff, Jacob and Jaxsen. She is also survived by other close family, Blake (Kathy) Tillotson of Cochrane and their children Daniel, Alana & Andrew as well as Kelly Chisholm of Irricana and her children Jeri-lyn & Brett. They called her"Granny Annie".
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Reid in 1995; two sons, Wesley Reid in 1962 and Lt. Col.(Retd) Walter A. Reid in 2008; three siblings, an older sister Dorothy Hubble (passed away at 92 years), a younger sister Margaret Betts (passed away at 84 years) and a younger brother Walter Nielsen, who was killed in action during World War II; brothers-in-law Sid Hubble and Norman Betts.
Annie was born in Long Cove, New Brunswick, August 27, 1913 to Martin & Pearl “Besy” Nielsen. She was raised and schooled in Three Hills, later moving to the Carstairs area where she married Lloyd E. Reid on January 10,1940.
They moved to Taber in 1948 to raise their family. Upon losing her husband Lloyd to cancer in 1995, together her daughter Joan, and son Walter, moved her to Edmonton where they could care for her.
She was the last surviving member of her family. Annie leaves behind precious memories with those who knew and loved her.
