FRANCIE DOGTEROM

1928 - 2010

Francis Andrew Dogterom, beloved husband of Frances Dogterom of Taber, passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the age of 81 years.
Besides his loving wife Fran, Francie is survived by his children Tim (Leagh) Dogterom of Lethbridge and their daughters Emily and Rachel; Sandra (Vince) Marthaller of Taber and their daughter Joanne (Chris) Davis (their children Jaela and Blake), Erin (Adam) Duell (their son Connor); Janine (Bruce) MacMurchy of Taber and their daughter Kristin (Ashley) Skiba (their children Walker and Maizie), Kevin MacMurchy; Denise Dogterom of Medicine Hat. He is also survived by his sisters Marie Dekeyser and Muriel Zasadny; brother Jake (Irma) Dogterom; mother-in-law Rose Tyo; brother-in-law Brian Jones as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Francie was predeceased by his first wife Irene Jones in 1960, leaving him with three small children. He was also predeceased by his parents Jacob and Emily Dogterom; brothers Hendrik, Louis & Ray; father-in-law James Tyo; brothers-in-law Alex Zasadny and Doug Jones; sisters-in-law Grace Wurzer, Jan Jones and Linda Phillips-Jones.
Francie was born August 28, 1928 in Lethbridge to Jacob and Emily Dogterom. He attended school at White School and the McLean School. He married Fran Tyo on July 26, 1969. Francie and Fran owned their own farm machine business, Southern Farm Sales & Service in addition to the farm. He always said he liked to work to feel the satisfaction of a good day. Over the years he was very hard working, often working two jobs. He was an active member of the Elks Club and the Taber Curling Club. In addition to curling he was also involved with softball and hockey as a coach. Francie & Fran enjoyed travelling over the years. They were able to travel to Spain, Jamaica, Hawaii, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, New Zealand, Australia, the Greek Islands, Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland, Las Vegas, Turkey and Fiji. He will be remembered for his great sense of humour and for being loyal, friendly, responsible and honest. He cherished his family very much and loved being surrounded by children.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Sandra Riddell officiating. A private family service will follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
