1931 - 2010

Miss Amelia “Emily” Kerner passed away with her family by her side, in Bow Island on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the age of 78 years.
Emily is survived by sisters Julia Medhurst of Salmon Arm, British Columbia and Katherine (Al) Davis of Bow Island; brothers William (Marion) Kerner of Medicine Hat, Lawrence (Lucette) Kerner of Edmonton, Tony (Gail) Kerner of Grimshaw, Andrew (Emma) Kerner of Medicine Hat and Henry (Alda) Kerner of Bow Island; sister-in-law Orlean Kerner of Lethbridge and Doreen Kerner of Bow Island as well as numerous nieces, nephews and God children.
She was predeceased by her parents Anton and Magdalena Kerner; sister Anna Baillie; brothers John, Joe and Francis; brothers-in-law Carson Baillie and Jack Medhurst.
Emily was born in Burdett on June 5, 1931 to Anton and Magdalena Kerner. She attended Samson School and Bow Island High School. After a number of years of employment in Medicine Hat she returned to Bow Island to care for her aging mother. Emily was well known in Bow Island for her volunteer work at the Bow Island Health Care Centre and at the Bow Island Golden Age Centre. She was ready for a game of bingo and crib at any time even in her last days.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 6:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 1113 - 1 Street East, Bow Island on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Fred Monk Celebrant. Burial to follow at the Bow Island Cemetery.
