He is also survived by his brothers Ed, Garth (Diane), Dale (Brenda); sisters Audrey (Harold) Rowe and Marquita Slavik; brother-in-law Keith Edwards; sister-in-law Iris Wilson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Elmer and Vida Wilson; brother Leland; sisters Colleen Wilson-Ross, Brenda Edwards, Marie Bareham; brothers-in-law Bill Bareham, Joe Slavik and Louis Ross.
Wayne was born April 22, 1931 in Taber where he resided until his passing. He attended Central School until he completed grade eleven. Wayne was a hard worker, working in the mine, at the slaughter house and at the Sugar Factory for thirty two years until he retired. Wayne enjoyed playing slow-pitch, boxing and he loved to rodeo - cow riding and bareback were his events of choice, “I spurred them in the neck”. Sitting in his chair watching stampede wrestling and hockey night in Canada was where you could find Wayne on a typical Saturday evening. Wayne was a dedicated and proud father and devoted grandpa, who would do anything for his children and grandchildren. There was nothing Wayne loved to do more than watch his children and grandchildren rodeo and play sports, or just spoil them rotten. Wayne will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family prior to the service in the Relief Society Room of the Church from 9:40 A.M. to 10:40 A.M. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Bishop Ken Holst conducting. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Wayne’s name may be made directly to the Taber and District Hospital Foundation, 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9.
