MELVIN TOLTON

1931 - 2004

Mr. Melvin Maurice Tolton passed away at the Taber Hospital on Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the age of 72 years.  
Melvin was born in Brownlee, Saskatchewan on October 25, 1931 to Errett and Verda Tolton.  In 1934, his family settled in Taber where he attended Taber Central School. In 1949, he moved to Coutts where together with his brothers Glenn and Allen, operated a service station, car and machinery dealership and bulk fuel agency in Milk River and later in Coutts. Melvin held a class one operators license for forty-six years during which time he owned and operated many trucking ventures and remained accident free throughout. In 1970, he began employment with Murphy Oil, retiring in 1993, and has resided in Coutts until the time of his passing.
Melvin is survived by his brother Elwood Tolton, two sisters-in-law, Josephine Tolton and Charlotte Tolton, his granddaughter Resher Schroeder and by numerous nieces and nephews.  
He was predeceased by his parents and by his brothers Merle, Allen and Glenn.  
The Funeral Service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating. Interment to follow in Taber Memorial Garden.
