WIN TONNESON
1917 - 2007
Winifred May Tonneson, beloved wife of the late Harold Tonneson, passed away in Taber on Monday, June 18, 2007 at the age of 89 years.
Win was born December 8, 1917 in Glasgow, Scotland. She served as a personnel officer in an ammunition factory during war time in Scotland. In 1946 she came to Canada as a war bride and resided in Enchant with her husband Harold where they raised a family of five children. Grandma was proud of her children and grandchildren and was in tune with their lives and accomplishments.
She was very involved in the Enchant community until Harold retired and they moved to Taber where she continued to be involved in many church activities, senior clubs in both Taber and Vauxhall, and the War Bride Association. Win loved to travel and would pack and go at the first suggestion, with travels that took her across Canada to many parts of the U.S., as well as “going home” to visit in Scotland.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Harold, after 49 years of marriage, a brother Alister, sister-in-law Margaret and only niece Anne in Scotland, brothers-in-law Norman, Roy and Leonard.
Win is survived by her beloved children Marion (Philip) Feist of Taber, Irene (Alan) Wolcoski of Shaunovan, Saskatchewan, Ken Tonneson of Lethbridge, Bruce Tonneson of Taber and Arlene (Gary) Wheeler of Lethbridge; ten grandchildren Karen (Colin), Jeff (Kate), Jason (Renee), Wade; Chris (Mij), Mark, Angela (Tim), Sheena (Steve), Maran (Jordan) and Adam (Emily); ten great grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.
