ARNOLD SCHMIDT
1938 - 2005
Mr. Arnold Schmidt of Taber, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at the age of 66 years.
Arnold was born in Mannsburg, Bessarabia on November 11, 1938 and came to Canada in 1957. He worked at the Taber Sugar Factory until his early retirement. In his younger years he played soccer and in later years enjoyed darts and fishing. Arnold was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
He is survived by his three children James Arthur of Calgary, Lori Lynn (Jon) Kobe of Medicine Hat and Jason Arnold (Heather) of Edmonton and by their mother Joan Hanson of Lethbridge; four grandchildren Nathan Michael Schmidt, Trevor James Schmidt, Nicholas Lap Hnatyshyn and Jeannette Elizabeth Schmidt; a brother Gerhard (Doris) Schmitt of Kelowna, B.C.; a nephew Ken Schmitt of Vancouver, B.C. and nieces Evelyn (Blaine) Morley of Edson, BettyAnn Schmitt of Mission, B.C., Lydia Wudrick of Edson and Eileen (Dale) Monks of Duncan, B.C.
He was predeceased by his parents Gottlieb and Lydia Schmitt and brothers Arthur and Adolf Schmitt.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Ave., Taber on Sunday, May 29, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at Southland Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 30 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Carl Bogda officiating. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
