SHARLENE SHIGEMI

1960 - 2005

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharlene Michiyo Shigemi on Saturday, July 9, 2005, surrounded by her loving family.  Shar was 45 years of age.
Born May 24, 1960 in Taber, Shar was the eldest of four children.  Many wonderful childhood memories were created growing up on the farm in Vauxhall with her family.  As Shar grew older, her life's journeys took her to Vancouver, Calgary and Olds before settling her in Lethbridge.  Shar was a creative individual with a passion for music and art.  Her talent blossomed in her paintings and showed in her love of flowers.  Shar had a strong sense of family and had a deep bond with her sisters that continued to grow over time. She had a generous and caring nature that encompassed an ever-growing circle of lifelong friends.  Her strength of spirit and dedication to family and friends were an inspiration to all the lives she touched.
Shar will be dearly missed by her mother, Toshino Shigemi; brother, Cliff (Crystal) Shigemi; sisters, Connie Shigemi and Marcy (Jim) Kaga.  Nieces and nephews, Kristy & Matthew Kaga and Danton & McKenna Shigemi.  Uncle Tak & Auntie Hajime Shigemi; cousins, Ron (Kathy) Shigemi (Kiyomi & Tyler, Taylor; Mariko), Ken (Lidia) Shigemi (Janice; Andrea & Tyler, Ashton), Blair Kaga, Louise Bertie (Jordan), Glenn (Cheryl) Shigemi (Alexis, Brett), Carey (Jo-Ann) Shigemi (Zak), Gene (Joyce) Shigemi.  Shar also leaves behind a large extended family.
Sharlene was predeceased by her father, George Shigemi and cousin Carol Kaga.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Memorial Service at the Lethbridge Buddhist Church, 1303 - 13 Street North, Lethbridge on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 5:00 pm. with Reverend Y. Izumi officiating.
A private interment was held for the family at Mountain View Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Sharlene's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
