JOHN SEKURA

1932 - 2005

John F. Sekura, beloved husband of Jolane Sekura of Taber, passed away at the Taber Hospital on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the age of 73 years.
Besides Jolane, his loving wife of fifty two years, John will be remembered by his daughter Patricia (Bill) Jeffery of Drayton Valley and their children Laura (Patrick) Gaudet, Kevin, Scott and Erin; his son Tom (Linda) Sekura of Taber and their sons John and Nicholas; his daughter Marilyn (Joe) Singleton of Taber and their children Jennifer (Danny Fournier) Coombes and Troy; his son Bernard (Marianne) Sekura of Taber and their children Kim and Brett; his son Greg (Greta) Sekura of Taber and their children Samantha and Nathan; his son Randy (Denise) Sekura of Hanna; three great grandchildren Brandon, Angelle and Spencer. He is also survived by his sister Mary (Alex) Bodie of Coaldale and by his brothers-in-law Les (Laurie) Chomany of Taber and Joe Chomany of Calgary as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Theresa Sekura and his sister Catherine.
John was born March 21, 1932 in Taber where he was raised and attended Reliance School in the Taber School District. He married Jolane Chomany at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Taber February 14, 1953. John had a sense of fairness and generosity and was committed and dedicated to all undertakings, especially farming. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards and visiting with friends. In his younger years, John enjoyed big game hunting. He was a chartered member of the Knights of Columbus Taber Council and was a M.D. of Taber councilor for fifteen years until retiring to the Town of Taber in 2000. His greatest joy was his children and their achievements. He loved to have his family gather together and spend time together.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at 7:00 P.M.  
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
