AGANETHA SCHWAB

1902 - 2005

Mrs. Aganetha Schwab, beloved wife of the late Albrecht Schwab, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at the age of 102 years.
Aganetha was born in Taranowka, Ukraine on Novemebr 3, 1902.  She was the second of eight children of Peter and Aganetha Thiessen. She received her schooling in Barvenkova and became a seamstress by trade and later a sewing instructor. She married Petj Pepneck in 1925. His untimely passing on October 2, 1926 left Aganetha widowed with a 10 week old son, Peter.
In December 1928 Aganetha immigrated to Canada where she joined her parents and siblings at Mullengar, Saskatchewan.  Here she was employed as a housekeeper until she moved with her parents to a farm at Rosemary, Alberta in 1937. In 1940 she married Albrecht Schwab of Rosemary. After one winter in Spring Coulee's coal mine, Albrecht and Aganetha moved to a farm north of Vauxhall with Peter and infant daughter Anne. Aganetha enjoyed almost 40
years of marriage to Albrecht before his passing in 1978. They enjoyed their shared interest in the work of the Mennonite Conference Church and their irrigation farm. Aganetha was able to remain at her farm home with the assistance of Anne and her family until 1991 when she moved to Prairie Rose Manor in Vauxhall. Later her health necessitated a move to Taber's Clearview Lodge, and in 1997 to Continuing Care.
Aganetha is survived by one son and two daughters; son Peter (Sonja) Pepneck, their six children Helga (Dean) Joyce and their children Matthew, Adrienna and Gavin; Peter Jr. (Glenna) Pepneck and their children Tracy, Julie and Joshua; Lillian (George) Simpson and their daughter Sonya (Andy) Dobson; Richard (Jo Ann) Pepneck and their children Jennifer, David and Stephanie; Harvey (Kathy) Pepneck and their son Daniel; Heidi (Ken) Froese and their children Luke, Logan and Carson; daughter Anne (late Jim) Skretting and their three children Sheldon (Marlene) Skretting, Michelle (Robert) Ostafichuk and Jackie (Ken) Kopervas and their children Kolten, Kelsey and Jolayne; daughter Ingrid (Ray) Speaker and their children Kari (Jay) Smith and their children Kale and Mattea and Mark (Maggie) Speaker.
Aganetha is also survived by two sisters; Ann (late Bert) Keeling and Betty (Ben) Friesen. She was predeceased by husbands Petj Pepneck and Albrecht Schwab, her parents, five siblings Mary, Helen, Peter, Ruth and Adena, grandson Kirk Speaker, great grandson Brayden Smith and son-in-law Jim
