VERONIKA SZUMLAS

1923 - 2006

Mrs. Veronika Barbara Szumlas of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. John Szumlas, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at the age of 83 years.
Veronika was born in the Ukraine on August 18, 1923.  She married John Szumlas on May 25, 1945 and in 1949 they came to Canada along with their two sons Stan and Edward.
She is survived by her four children Stan (Diann) of Calgary, Edward (Joanne) of Red Deer, John (Peggy) of Edmonton, Ted (Diane) of Bashaw and daughter-in-law Lorna Watson of Lethbridge; six grandchildren Bryan (Sandy), Darren, Tanya, Aaron, Georgina and Alexandra Szumlas; four great grandchildren Katrina, Justin, Jeileigh and Jaiden; special nieces and nephews Henry Kazala, Irene Matlas, Mary Ann Taylor and Peter Szumlas.
Veronika was predeceased by her husband John, son Henry and grandson Joel.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on  Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009  - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 14, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant.  Interment to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
