MARTHA SMITH
1910 - 2007
Martha Augusta Smith (nee Murphy), beloved wife of the late George Smith, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at the age of 96 years.
She is survived by her son David (Karen) Smith of Bow Island; grandchildren Randy (Leslie) Rae of Prince George, British Columbia and their children Talia, Zak and Hanna; David (Karen) Rae of Oceanside, California and their children Jon Michael, Calen and Taylor; Sheri (Alex) Green of Cranbrook, British Columbia and their children Cameron and Courtenay; Ronald (Michele) Smith of Maple Ridge, British Columbia and their children Connor, Meghan and Meranda. Martha is also survived by her sister Mary Kerrison of Taber as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband George Smith in 1981, daughter Martha Rae, son-in-law Alan Rae and infant granddaughter Jacqueline Smith.
Martha was born in Kilgore, Nebraska on October 10, 1910 to George and Martha (nee Benke) Murphy. Martha married George Simpson Smith in Lethbridge on November 23, 1933. They settled in Taber where they farmed throughout their married life. Martha moved to the Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island in 1999 and to the Bow Island Health Centre in 2002 and has resided there until her passing.
A private family service will be held.
