He is survived by his children Phyllis (Brian) Bell, Beverly (Harry) Nagata and Rod (Gail) Sauter all of Lethbridge. Also left with special memories are his grandchildren Lindsay Bell, Lauren (Sandi) Bell, Kerry Nagata, Kent Nagata, Kristine Nagata, Troy (Brandi) Sauter all of Lethbridge, Mirran (Zoran) Rajcic of Everet, Washington, Megan (Bill) Trcka of Calgary and Tracy (Doug) Bakke of Coutts; eight loving great grandchildren Taylor, Logan, Cooper, Jackson, Zoe, Hannah, Kieran and Abbey. Fred is also survived by his sister Marianne (Ben) Saik of Calgary; sister-in-law Beatrice Sauter of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Nora in 2003.
Fred was born on February 12, 1920 to Charles and Mary Sauter. He was the first baby born in the Town of Vauxhall. Fred was raised with his siblings Edith, Alice, Charles and Marianne. Dad spent more than eighty years in Vauxhall. He owned and operated Sauter’s General Supplies, which was a staple business in town for three to four decades. Before retiring he finished out his working years selling insurance. He enjoyed hunting pheasants and
curling, a highlight of which was his participation in the Senior Winter Games in the Crowsnest Pass. After retirement he was involved with the Vauxhall Senior’s and many a day was spent on the golf course at home and in Milk River. In the fall of 2000, Dad sold the acreage in Vauxhall and moved in to Lethbridge where he has resided until his passing.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church, 320 - 9 Street North, Vauxhall on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Alana Johnson officiating. Burial to follow at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
