MILDRED ROACH

1915 - 2004

Mrs. Mildred Louise Wills Bassett Roach passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the age of 88 years.
We have lost, but God has gained a loving mother, grandmother and friend.  Mildred was born to the family of William and Sarah Wills in Harrop, B.C. on August 31, 1915.  After her parents passing she moved to Blackie, Alberta to live with her Uncle George and Aunt Sadie Devitt.  She later moved to Taber where she worked as a waitress.  It was there she met Clarence Elmo Bassett.  They were married and blessed with two children Connie (Ronald) Valgardson and Robert (Sharon) Bassett.  Clarence passed away in 1951.  Mildred raised her children on her own and later married Jack Roach.  They shared a love of nature and enjoyed fishing, picnics and many scenic drives.  Mildred was known for her avid involvement in her many hobbies and won many ribbons for her chocolate angel food cake, her pickling and her favorite was her roses.  She belonged to the Taber Arts and Crafts Association where she loved oil painting, weaving and china painting.  She lived in her home up until the time of her passing.  She was blessed with two loving husbands but her greatest joy of all was her family and her best buddy, her dog OJ.
Besides her two children, she will be remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren Greg (Tracy) Bassett and Cooper; Doug (Wanda) Bassett and daughter Sara; Rick (Kerri) Bassett and son Mason; Brian (LorRee) Valgardson and sons Chad, Jordan, Colton and Jason; Wayne (Twyla) Valgardson and children Travus, Curtis and Kassidy; Carrie (Roy) Simek and children Mackenzie, Brooke and Austin; Rob (Shelly) Bassett and daughters Tannis and Shondi; Tracey Bassett and children Brandi and Brett; Bonnie (Brad) Fallon and daughters Darcie and Megan; and Dennis Basset; daughter-in-law Shirley Bassett and sisters-in-law Millie Roach, Hazel Bassett and Sis Wills and also by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Sarah Wills; husbands Clarence Bassett and Jack Roach; brothers Charles, William, Raymond, Rex and Stan; and sisters Ivy and Hazel.
The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church (4929-50 Ave.) Taber on Monday, January 19, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Jim Lochhead officiating.  Interment to follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Mildred's name may be made to the Taber Hospital Foundation, 4326-50 Ave., Taber T1G 1N9.
