JOHN REIMER
1906 - 2004
Mr. John B. Reimer went home to be with his Lord after living nearly 98 fruitful years here on earth.
Dad was born in Russia and lived there until 1925 at which time he came to Canada with three siblings. He lived in several Alberta communities, but eventually settled in Vauxhall. In 1929, Dad married Anna Riediger and together they raised their nine children. Trying to make ends meet on the farm was a full time job, but Dad always made time for church involvement. He was a founding member of the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church. His faith and trust in God was evident in every aspect of his life. In 1978, Mom passed away. After several lonely years, Dad met and married Helen Eitzen. They lived together in Linden for seventeen years during which time he became totally involved in the lives of his newly acquired family, as well as the local Mennonite Brethren church body. In 1998, a year after "Mom Eitzen" died, Dad moved into the Sunny South Lodge in Coaldale where he resided until his death. He died peacefully at the Coaldale Health Care Centre on July 8th.
Dad is survived by his children: Bernhard (Margaret), John (Marie), Abe (Frieda), Gerhard (Nellie), Peter (Elfrieda), Henry (Kathy), Elma (Bert) Kornelson, Martha (Clarence) Wall, Susan (Wayne) Whitlock, as well as twenty-seven grandchildren and forty-eight great-grandchildren and their spouses. The family members of his second wife also survive Dad. They are, Bill (Donna) Eitzen, Denver (Myrna) Eitzen, Marj (Allan) Toews, Lydia Chetin, Jean (Bob) Thiessen, and their families. He also has two special sisters-in-law remaining, Beth Reimer and Margaret Riediger.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church (320 - 9 Street, North) Vauxhall, on Monday, July 12, 2004 from 1:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M.
