LIZ REMPEL

1935 - 2008

The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1

Elizabeth Rempel, beloved wife of Steely Rempel of Vauxhall, passed away in Taber on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the age of 72 years.
Besides her loving husband Steely, Liz is survived by her children, Patty (Myles) Toews of Florence, South Carolina and their children Deanne, Justin, Rachael & Lyndsay; Betty (George) Hiebert of Worsley and their children Nicole, Michelle, Brianne, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Melissa & Emily; Karen (Vic) Pankratz of Surrey, British Columbia and their children Jaline & Kyle; Tim (Jennifer) Rempel of Lethbridge. She is also survived by her siblings, Abe (Helen) Unruh of Taber; Johanna (Henry) Herfort of Calgary; Henry (Sue) Unruh of Enchant; Jake (Mary) Unruh of Vauxhall; Aunt Margaret Riediger of Coaldale as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special recognition to Kari Campbell, Liz’s long time caregiver and very dear friend.
She was predeceased by her parents David & Elizabeth Unruh; brother Dave & sister-in-law Esther Unruh and brother Pete & sister-in-law Anne Unruh.
Liz touched everyone who came into her life.
Born in Vauxhall on September 6, 1935, she attended North Slope Elementary and Vauxhall schools. After graduation she attended Henderson Business College and worked full time at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Vauxhall and Calgary.
In 1957 she married Henry “Steely” Rempel and in 1958 they settled in Vauxhall where they raised their family. She worked hard and enjoyed canning, baking, gardening, and for much of her life her family had a hard time keeping up with her. Liz’s family was her joy and there was nothing she loved more then having them home where she could feed, love and care for them.
Liz was a shining example of Christian faith throughout her life. She was always positive and her love for the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour shone through everything she did. She was a woman of prayer, taking a personal interest and offering prayer for everyone who needed it.
She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Sunday, April 27, 2008 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
