1923 - 2008

Olga Leschuk Powell beloved wife of the late Alexander Powell, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the age of 85 years.
She is survived by her children Marian Hendricks of Lethbridge, Deanna (Robert) Dickson of Burdett, Richard (Margaret) Powell of Lethbridge and Ted Powell of Lethbridge; grandchildren and great grandchildren Jim (Lori) Hendricks and their daughter Mason; Debbie Hendricks, Dan (Kathy) Harmon and their children Jennifer and Mark; Robert Jr. (Carol) Dickson and their children Brittany and Courtney; Allan Dickson, Patty (Joseph) Rooks and their children Ayden and Victoria; Kathleen (J.J.) SharpAdze and their son Dalton; Alexander Currie and his children Damien, Sydney and Siovhan; Shane Powell, Ryan (Lisa) Powell and their daughter Mariah; Ashley (Tom) Speakman. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Nelda) Leschuk; sisters-in-law Ann Allen, Jeanette Powell, Helen Peterson and Carol Korsa; brother-in-law John Korsa as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Alex; parents Roman and Ewdokia Leszczuk; granddaughter Susan Dickson; great grandson Dean Hendricks; son-in-law Donald Hendricks; sister Rene Tate; brother Johnny Leschuk; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law George (Margaret) Powell, Bill Allen, Mike Powell, Bill (Mary)
Powell, Leo Peterson, Wilfred (Mary) Peterson and George Korsa.
Olga was born March 19, 1923 in Siniow, Poland to Roman and Ewdokia Leszczuk. She married Alexander Powell in New Westminster, British Columbia on October 27, 1943. They moved to Taber in 1945 where she has resided until her passing. Olga was active in St. Theodore’s Anglican Church woman’s group and the Kiwanis Ladies. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. Olga had a wonderful sense of humour. She will be remembered for her cheerful disposition and always smiling even when she wasn’t feeling well. Olga always enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. To Olga family was everything and she always loved the times spent with them.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, November 20, 2008 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday, November 21, 2008 between 12:30 P.M. and 1:30 P.M. at the Southland Funeral Chapel.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber on Friday, November 21, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Wil Stonehill officiating. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.
