DONNA KAST

1952 - 2004

Donna Kast (nee Layton), beloved wife of Melvin Kast of Lethbridge, passed away at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 26, 2004 at the age of 52 years.
Donna was born in Taber on March 29, 1952. She received her education in Taber, graduating from St. Mary's. She married Melvin Kast at St. Augustine's Catholic Church on September 25, 1971. On August 15, 1972, Donna and Melvin purchased K & K Service at Grassy Lake which they operated together for twenty-two years before moving to Lethbridge. Donna was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, was involved with Scouts, spent many years as a volunteer with the Grassy Lake Fire Department and also sat on the Grassy Lake Recreation Board where she played an integral role in having the ball diamonds built. Donna was recently a part of the organizational committee which planned the St Mary's School reunion last year. She loved slowpitch and enjoyed bowling in recent years.
Besides her loving husband Melvin, Donna is survived by her son Morgan (Natasha) Kast of Coaldale and her daughter Janine (Pete) Dyck of Lethbridge; grandchildren Taylor, Brady, Dawson and Kaisha Kast and Marinna, Nicholas and Vincent Dyck. She is also survived by her sister Diana (Hans) Walstra of Strathmore, two step-sisters Betty Phillips and Shirley (Joe) Perin, two step-brothers Rudy (Terry) Koch and Edwin (Mary) Koch, her uncle Bernard (Vera) Layton, mother-in-law Madeline Kast, brothers and sisters-in-law Sharon (Larry) Halter, Frank (Margaret) Kast, Bev (Les) McDonald as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother Mickey, father Butch and by her step-mother Lena.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006-48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 7:30 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, 5009-48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Father Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant. Interment to follow at the Prairieview Cemetery, Grassy Lake.
