ADAM KALLEN

1924 - 2006

Adam Kallen of Lethbridge, formerly of Vauxhall, beloved husband of Irmgard “Irma” Kallen passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the age of 82 years.
Adam is survived by his loving wife of 58 1/2 years, Irma, his children and grandchildren; Liz (Steve) Alexander of Ladner, B.C. and their children Lisa and Christopher (Lissa); Peter (Leslie) Kallen of Strathmore and their children Greg (Patina), Rebecca and Christine; Marianne (Pete) Brouwer of Diamond City and their children Shannon (Alex) Desjardins, Sheryl (Sean) Tregillus and Craig Brouwer; Irma Kallen of Lethbridge and children Angela and Andrea (Rick) Green; Hubert (Karen) Kallen of Tilley and their children Troy (Joanne), Charmaine (Eyrin) Nelson, Teresa (Leyton) Clark and Mark Johnston; Carl (Wendy) Kallen of Vauxhall and their children Dylan, Luke and Katelyn; Tony Kallen  of Parksville, B.C. and children Jordan (Megan) and Leah (James); Kathy Young Pine of Lethbridge and children Vanessa and Derrick; beloved great grandchildren Tory, Raegan, Kendra, Chloey, Alexandra, Trey, Jaxson and Jasmyn; brother Karl-Heinz (Marianne) of Kaarst, sisters Maria (Karl) Hoff of Viersen and Theresa Meyer of Schiefbahn, all of Germany. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law Reverend Hubert, Reverend Fritz, Marianne and Liesel Janssen of Kevelaer, Germany and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Adam was predeceased by his parents Peter and Katharina, mother and father-in-law Franziska and Hubert Janssen, brothers-in-law Joseph Janssen and Willy Meyer, infant daughter Theresa and grandson Dustan Kallen.
Adam was born August 13, 1924 in Kaarst, Germany.  He married Irmgard Janssen in 1948; and immigrated to Canada in August of 1952.  Irmgard and four children followed in June of 1953.  Adam was employed on various farms throughout Southern Alberta until 1963 when they purchased the family farm in Vauxhall where they resided until 1996, when they moved to the Town of Vauxhall, then  to Marhta’s House in Lethbridge in 2005.
Adam was active in the Farming and Cattle Industry; past President of the Vauxhall Ag. Society; 4-H Club leader; a director with The Feeders Association and the Vauxhall Co-op; an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish and the Seniors Center in Vauxhall.  Adam will be fondly remembered by his associates in the cattle industry, and all who knew him for his honesty, generosity, infectious good nature as well as his love of music, dance and crib playing.
Relatives and friends are invited for Prayers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 324 - 2 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Friday, September 29, 2006 at 7:00 P.M.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Vauxhall on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant.  Interment to follow at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
