FUNERAL SERVICE AUDIO RECORDING

Roy Simek

1962 - 2025

Roy Allan Simek, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in Taber on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the age of 62 years.

The Funeral Service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. Private burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Carrie and their daughter Mackenzie (Tyler) Platt of Taber and children Blake, Leo and Miley; daughter Brooke (Hunter) Andrus of Taber and children Tex and Les; son Austin Simek. He will also be remembered by his siblings Cathy (Cam) Hodgen, Gerry Simek, Val (Leroy) Holthe, Ken (Corinne) Simek, Tom (Kristen) Simek and Lorraine (Darrell) Visser; brothers-in-law Brian (LorRee) Valgardson, Wayne (Twyla) Valgardson and numberous nieces and nephews.

As the middle child of seven born to Bob and Frances Simek, Roy is remembered by his siblings as a “happy go lucky” brother who was smiley, quiet and quick with a laugh. He was undemanding, never sought the spotlight and kind and fun to be around.

Roy and his three brothers were close knit growing up and if not working, were always up for a game of something! Along with the Kuryvial brothers, the “gang” spent many wonderful, carefree hours playing sports like baseball, football and ball hockey at the Cranford Hall, swimming in the nearby canal and their favorite one, playing “motorcycle tag.” All the players had nicknames and Roy’s was “Roalo.” Roy was always the one to try things first like stunts on his bicycle. Once he showed it could be done, the rest of the gang would follow.

Roy developed a love of the land in those early years on the farm. In 1991, he married Carrie, a beautiful horse loving gal and together they raised many dogs, cats, horses and three children, Mackenzie, Brooke and Austin. In their free time, they loved to go trail riding and camping at their favorite family spot. They farmed for many years with Carrie’s family and then, not quite ready to retire, Roy began a new endeavor by working at Lamb Weston where he met many new friends. As life proceeded, their precious family grew through wonderful sons-in-law and five delightful grandchildren whom he adored and spoiled. Roy leaves behind a void, a sadness for all he will miss with his kids and grandkids. For all who really knew Roy, we will “Never Not Remember You.”

Sbohem Roalo!
