1939 - 2025

Violet Alice Smith, beloved wife of the late Frank Smith, passed away in Lethbridge on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the age of 85 years.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber, on Friday, February 7, 2025 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. A private burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Violet is survived by her children Joe (Michele) Smith of Taber, Ron (Georgia) Smith of Taber, Joan Smith of Lethbridge, Rhonda (Lynden) Buckley of Taber and by her grandchildren Caraline Smith and Alexander Masson. She is also survived by Frank’s siblings Marilyne Smith (Monti Maxwell), Bonnie (Barry) Daisley as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Alice and Charles Smith and brother Ed and sister-in-law Rose; her in-laws Marie and Alan Smith, sisters-in-law Vicki, Marjorie, Sonja and brother-in-law Jim.

Violet was born in Birch River, Manitoba on August 15, 1939. She attended SAIT in Calgary and completed the Registered Nurse’s Aide Program in 1958. She worked at the Medicine Hat and Taber hospitals prior to marrying Frank on August 15, 1959. Once married, Violet and Frank raised their family and farmed in the Fincastle region.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
