She was predeceased by her husband Omer Taillefer; parents Jack and Frances Goruk; brother Bill Goruk; sister-in-law Linda Goruk and niece Tiffany Goruk.
Karen was born to Jack and Frances Goruk on March 16, 1948 in Taber. She grew up and attended school in Taber and graduated from St. Mary's High School. Karen attended school in Edmonton, where she became a Lab and Xray Technician and was then employed for thirty seven years at the Magrath Hospital. During her years in Magrath, Karen developed many long lasting friendships that she still had to this day. In 1992 she married Omer Taillefer and together they travelled back to Ontario/Quebec a few times, to spend time with Omer's children and their families. Omer passed away in 2001. Karen retired after a few years and moved to Coaldale where she resided for seventeen years. She enjoyed being around people and especially her nieces and nephews and their children. Karen has always been affectionately known as 'Auntie Karen' even to the children of her many friends. That's just who she was and she was so very good to all of them. Karen loved following her family in sports and other events. She always showed up, rain or shine to watch the kids for their baseball, basketball, volleyball or any other special event. Karen was always there to show her support and all the kids really appreciated it and have fond memories. She enjoyed going to movies or watching them on TV, Blue Jays Games and attending several country music festivals with her special friend Ron Revak. We are very grateful to Ron for spending so much time with Karen, especially after we started to suspect that something was wrong. In 2019 Omers' daughter Jackie and her daughter Amelie came to stay with Karen for a week and they had so much fun taking day trips all over Alberta and just being together. Karen really treasured that visit. Karen moved to Taber in August of 2024 and lived at Clearview Lodge for three months and then moved to Linden View where she only spent three weeks. Karen will be missed by so many people.
