ALFRED KRAMER

1919 - 2008

Alfred R. Kramer of Taber, beloved husband of the late Alice (nee Roenspies) Kramer, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, February 22, 2008 at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by his children Diane Bedard, Shirley Roberts, and Noel (Howard) Kehler all of Taber, Judy Jackson of Christchurch, New Zealand, Peggy (Elwood) Main of Coalhurst, Myrna (Charles Etches) Charette of North Bay, Ontario and Bruce (Lynette) Kramer of Port Alberni, British Columbia. His many grandchildren will miss his presence; Stacey (Trevor) Morgans, Angelique Bedard, Kimberley (TV Liu) Jackson, Scott Jackson, Jason Johnson, Kent Wiebe, Joanne Paskiewich, Darryl (Nancy) Main, Michelle Main, Clint (Christine) Kramer, Grant (Robin) Kramer, Nolan Kramer, Renetta (Doug) Beler, Erin Roberts and Jakson Kehler. He is also survived by twenty three great grandchildren.
Alfred was predeceased by wife Alice (nee Roenspies) Kramer in 1985; parents Nicholas and Mary Kramer; siblings Gertrude Servatius, Elizabeth Dauk, Hildagard Meyer, Peter Kramer, Marie Vanderlinde, Edmund Kramer, and Nick Kramer Jr.; son-in-law Guy Bedard.
Alfred was born June 15, 1919 in Annaheim, Saskatchewan where he married Alice Roenspies on May 11, 1942. Together they farmed near St. Gregor, Saskatchewan where they had six of their seven children. Alfred and his family moved to Taber in 1956 where he worked for Wallace McDonald as a heavy-duty mechanic. He co-founded the B & A Custom Corral Cleaning business in 1965 and later worked in Vauxhall and Taber as a farm equipment and automotive mechanic. Alfred moved to Fernie, British Columbia in 1969, where he worked as a mechanic for Kaiser Coal. He retired from mechanics in 1984 and eventually returned to Taber in 1995 to live at the Clearview Lodge. No matter where Alfred resided, he enjoyed curling, golfing, and family card games. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 5009 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Mariusz Sztuk SDS Celebrant. A private family burial will take place.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Alfred’s name may be made directly to the Taber Hospital Foundation, 4326 - 50 Avenue, Taber, Alberta T1G 1N9.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Clearview Lodge in Taber for the excellent care over the years, the Taber and District Hospital staff for providing compassionate care in the past two weeks, and the considerate service received from Southland Funeral Chapel.
