Rod Coombs

1955 - 2024

Rodney Edward Coombs, beloved husband of Linda Coombs, passed away in Taber on Sunday November 10, 2024 at the age of 69 years.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 5205 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 2:00 P.M.

Besides his loving wife Linda, he is survived by his children Angie (Paxton) Schafer of Medicine Hat and their children Aidynn, Kaysen, Josh, Ally and Mason; Dana (James) Harrison of Lethbridge and their children Julia, Molly and Ben. Rod is also survived by his siblings Dale (Maria) Coombs, Wendy Heidinger, Cynthia Schafer and Greg (Marianne) Hale as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased father and step mother Dean and Vi Coombs; mother and step father Etta and Chas Hale; father and mother-in-law John and Anna Wall; sister-in-law Shelly Coombs and brother-in-law Bud Heidinger.

Rod was born in Lethbridge on February 10, 1955 and spent his younger years being raised in Warner, until later moving to Taber. There, he married the love of his life Linda in 1979, and they raised their two daughters, Angie and Dana. Rod, being an aviation engineer, worked at Time Air in Lethbridge for many years. He then worked globally in Brussells Belgium, Balgona Italy, Malta, Libya and Angola Africa, before returning to Taber to finish out his working years at Kinniburgh Spray Services. Rod was always working even when not at work, on many of his various projects or expanding on his numerous collections. He was passionate about anything mechanical. Whether it be planes, vehicles, motorbikes, guns, cameras, watches or radios to name a few, he loved to tinker with anything and everything. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and a tool he didn’t have, he was happy to share his endless fountain of knowledge with all. Rod and Linda would often go camping in the summers, Dutch Creek being a family favorite, where he passed his love for the outdoors to his grandchildren as well. Rod passed away in his home after a difficult battle with cancer. He is now free from pain. Rod will be deeply missed and remembered for the amazing man he was.
