He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Laura Steinborn.

As an avid reader, he knew a little, and sometimes a lot, about seemingly everything which made him equipped to talk to anyone. His life was filled with family, history, genealogy, building, horticulture, cuisine, fishing, music and crossword puzzles. Ben was immensely proud of his over forty five year long carpentry career, often pointing out his past projects to his family. Another source of pride for Ben were the numerous, creative and safe sets he built for Taber Players, W. R. Myers High School and other local theatre groups.

Everyone who knew Ben, knew his witty sense of humour, his vast vocabulary and his love for deep conversation. He was a master at word play and often snuck puns into his daily conversations.

Some memories that Ben cherished and loved to talk about were fishing trips with his brother Guy, family history and gatherings, road trips and camping with his family and friends and of course, his experience with skydiving. While Ben loved to reminisce on the past he also had a thirst for the new. A new travel destination, a new recipe, a new fishing knot, a new conversation buddy, or a new route home, which was affectionately called the long cut.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Ben’s name may be made directly to Taber Players Theatre Group. For more information reach out by email to  or use this address to send a donation via e-transfer.
