1933 - 2024

Tony Westerhoud, beloved husband of Peggy Westerhoud, passed away in Taber on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the age of 90 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service will be held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Those who are unable to attend and wish to view the service online may do so by clicking on the livestream link that will be available on this page at 1:45 P.M. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Barring any technical difficulties, the livestream will begin at 2:00 P.M.

Besides his loving wife Peggy, he is survived by his children Gordon (Marj) Westerhoud; Twila Black; Tommy Westerhoud and his children Hailey and her children Breeann and Owen, Sarah (Randal) and their children Arya and Wyatt, Olivia (Derek); Cora Schultz and her children Kelli (Raj) and their child Devin, Colin; Mark (Eva) Westerhoud and their children Marisa and her children Jace and Greyson, Logan, Jacob, Holli and her child Leo; Bert (Marnie) Westerhoud and their children Alyssa (James), Selina and her child Sage, Leland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Cornelus and Cornelia Westerhoud; brothers and sisters-in-law Tim (Clara) Westerhoud, Carl (Hilda) Westerhoud; father and mother-in-law John and Lydia Mehrer; Peggy’s siblings and their spouses Betty (Herb) Frisch, Ella (Roy) Watson, Cecilia (Jeff) deHeer and Marie Mehrer.

Tony was born December 15, 1933 in Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 with his parents and brothers. Tony married Peggy on August 26, 1960, and together they raised six children (four sons and two daughters). He lived in Taber most of his life, working at the seed cleaning plant, UGG elevator and in construction. Tony enjoyed fishing and camping with family, going on many holidays and road trips. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tony was a long time member of the Lions Club and sang in the church choir.
