JOAN KEW

1924 - 2008

Joan Kew (nee McLean), beloved wife of the late James Kew, passed away in Edmonton on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the age of 84 years.
Joan is survived by her children Christine (Ron) Wing of Edmonton, James (Connie) Kew of Sherwood Park and Joanne Helmer of Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan; daughter-in-law Jocelyn Kew of Okotoks; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Donald McLean of Scotland as well as numerous nieces and nephews also in Scotland.
She was predeceased by her husband James; son Donald; parents Christine & Duncan McLean; sisters Marion, Mary, Christine and a brother Duncan.
Joan was born February 22, 1924 in Glasgow, Scotland to Christine and Duncan McLean. She came to Canada in 1946 as a war bride with her daughter Christine. Jim and Joan settled in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan and in 1965 they moved to Vauxhall. They were members of the Royal Canadian Legion in both Yellow Grass and Vauxhall. Joan was also a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She moved to Edmonton in 2003 and has resided there until her passing.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Friday, April 18, 2008 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Parkview United Church, 712 - 3 Avenue North, Vauxhall on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Alana Johnson officiating. Burial to follow at the Vauxhall Cemetery.
