Helena Doerksen

1979 - 2024

Helena Remple Doerksen, beloved wife of Frank Doerksen, passed away in Lethbridge on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the age of 44 years, a result of heart failure.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, July 11, 2024 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

The Funeral Service was held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 3902 Heritage Drive, Taber on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Helena was born in Campo 6 ½ Cuauhtémoc Chihuahua, Mexico on August 20, 1979 to Peter and Helena Banman. She was the third oldest of seven children. Helena and her family moved to Canada on April 10, 1993, residing mostly in Ontario where she met her husband, Franz Doerksen. Together with their two lovely children Nila and Rick, they moved to Alberta in November 2006.

Helena was a loving soul. She carried a lot of love for the people around her and always went out of her way to remind you that she cared. She was a fighter. Anyone who would’ve ever seen her at the hospital immediately noticed that she was not there to relax and take it easy. She made it very clear that she was not a quitter and she stubbornly stuck to her ways till the end. She’s inspired many people with her actions and she is someone we can all look up to when it comes to being positive and staying strong. Helena has taught us all a valuable lesson on what it means to truly never give up.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Helena’s name may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.
