MADELINE KAST
1927 - 2009
Zona Madeline Kast passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the age of 82 years.
She is survived by her children Melvin (Heather) Kast of Coalhurst, Sharon (Larry) Halter of Lethbridge, Frank (Margaret) Kast of Grassy Lake and Beverley (Les) MacDonald of Clive; ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Audrey (Walter) Melvin of Lethbridge; sister-in-law Rita Peterson of Nanton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Con; parents Edward and Margaret Peterson; son Marvin Kast; daughter-in-law Donna Kast; sisters Lyla (John) Kast, Eveline (Gordon) Hamilton; brothers Bill, Bert and Wallace Peterson.
Madeline or “Grassy Grandma” as she was affectionately known, was born February 28, 1927 in Lethbridge where she was raised and educated. She married Con Kast on March 22, 1947. In 1955 they moved to Grassy Lake where they farmed and raised their family. She was fond of her time spent on the farm. Madeline was employed at various jobs during her working years. She enjoyed playing cards and was a real pool shark. Madeline was very creative and in her spare time she kept busy writing, sewing or painting.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. Burial to follow at the Prairieview Cemetery, Grassy Lake.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Madeline’s name may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.
