1962 - 2023
The family of Fleurette Anne Schmidt are deeply saddened to announce the passing of their beloved wife, mother and grandmother in Taber on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the age of 60 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, February 16, 2023 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held at Knox United Church, 4929 - 50 Avenue, Taber on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Fleurette is survived by her husband Brad and their children Kristi Schmidt of Taber and Dustin Schmidt of Victoria, British Columbia; grandchildren Keesha and Brylin, Kenadi and Kingsley; her father Joe (Trudy) VanEs, brother Mike (Carrie) VanEs, mother-in-law Freida Allan, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother Dorothy VanEs, brother Ian VanEs, Father-in-law Jack Schmidt, stepfather-in-law William Allan, sister-in-law Bonna LaBrecque and niece Marissa Christensen.
Fleurette was born on June 15,1962 in Powell River, British Columbia to Joe and Dorothy VanEs. She was raised on a ranch, where she found her passion for horses. In 1980 she met Brad Schmidt at a rodeo, where he stole her heart. On December 10, 1982, they were married in Taber. Following the birth of their daughter Kristi, their son Dustin arrived two years later in 1984.
Fleurette was an amazing soul who touched many lives. Despite many obstacles in her life, Fleurette will always be remembered for her resilience, infectious laugh and spicy spirit. Fleurette will be forever loved by friends and family alike. Fleurette was a great wife, friend, mother, sister, daughter and auntie. She will be missed by all who knew her.
