Bonnie Campbell

1961 - 2020

 Bonnie Carla Campbell, beloved wife of Glen Campbell, passed away in Bow Island on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the age of 58 years.

 As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19, and the government’s recommendations a private funeral service was held at Southland Funeral Chapel, Taber on Saturday, November 28, 2020. 

 Bonnie is survived by her husband Glen Campbell; sons Taylor Campbell of Medicine Hat and Jordan Campbell (Robyn Andersen) of Elkwater; sisters Glenda (Dennis) Schatz and Jan (Tom) Suley.

 She was predeceased by her father Les Hamling in 1971, mother Emily Hamling in 2016 and sister Karen Yoos in 2015.

 Bonnie was born December 15, 1961 in Lethbridge to Les and Emily Hamling. She graduated from Foremost High School in 1979 then went on to attend Henderson College of Business in Lethbridge. Following college, Bonnie moved to Burdett and worked at the Alberta Treasury Branch in Bow Island. She married Glen Campbell on July 18, 1981 which was her first introduction to irrigation farming and mosquitoes. Their first son Taylor was born in 1985 followed by their second, Jordan in 1987. She then went from fulltime at the bank to part-time at the Bow Island Hospital, raising two boys and helping with the farm chores. Soon after she began working at the Burdett School, Senator Gershaw in Bow Island and eventually at the Town of Bow Island. Bonnie and Glen created many happy memories playing slopitch, camping, fishing and quadding. In 2007 Glen and Bonnie sold their farm in Burdett and bought a smaller farm and acreage in Bow Island. From there they started their retirement years and enjoyed travelling and holiday’s. Bonnie was most proud of her boys and their achievements over the years, especially when it came to stock car racing, where the boys came in first and second champions in their class. In 2017 Bonnie and Glen built their “dream cabin” at Forty Mile Park where they enjoyed boating, fishing and much love and laughter with the lake community.
