Glennys Smith
1951 - 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Glennys Rose Smith (nee Savage) announces her passing in Bow Island on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the age of 68 years.
As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19, and the government’s recommendations, a private visitation was held. A private burial service followed at the Bow Island Cemetery on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 2:00 P.M.
Glennys will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bryce Smith; her children Jonathan (Vanessa) Moore, David Moore and Daniel Moore. She will be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren Katelyn, Madison, Nicole, Avonley and Anna; sister Marguerite (Bud) Hagen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Gordon Stewart Savage, mother Joan Toone, infant brothers Stewart and William and infant sister Patricia.
Glennys was born in Lethbridge on August 15, 1951. At the age of eleven, her family moved to Calgary where she spent most of her growing up years. She graduated from James Fowler High School and later attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Glennys moved to Medicine Hat in the early 70s and raised her children on an acreage just outside of town. She moved to Bow Island in 2011 and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she met her husband Bryce. They were only married for one short year before a tragic accident took her away.
Glennys had a lovely alto singing voice and when she was a teenager and young adult, she played the guitar beautifully. In her adult years she learned to play the piano. Glennys loved her family, music and animals and her relationship with her Heavenly Father and Saviour Jesus Christ. Family and friends will always remember her for her love of children, bright smile, sparkling laugh, positive attitude, even in the worst of trials and her kindness to everyone she met. All who met Glennys knew she was a very special person.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Glennys’ name may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.
