1932 - 2020

 Peter Lowen, beloved husband of Mary Lowen, passed away in Taber on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the age of 87 years.

As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19, and the government’s recommendations, a private gathering for family was held at Southland Funeral Chapel on Thursday, April 9, 2020. A private burial service followed at the Vauxhall Mennonite Cemetery.  

Peter is survived by his wife Mary Lowen (nee Martens) of Taber and Mary’s five children who he was a supportive step father to. He is also survived by four sisters and one brother-in-law.

 He was predeceased by five brothers, two sisters, oldest step daughter and three nieces.

 Pete was born September 1, 1932 in Beaverlodge, Alberta. He was one of twelve children born to Abe Lowen and Gertrude Lowen (nee Quiring), both born in Marienthal, Russia. The family homesteaded near Beaverlodge. In 1945, as a growing family, they moved to a farm northeast of Vauxhall, approximately seventy five years ago. The second residents on newly farmed prairie. On the family homestead, he lived a full and busy life. Pete was a kind man, always ready to help both family and neighbor. His big grin and twinkling blue eyes will be greatly missed.
