Norm Chychota
1941 - 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa, Norman Ned Chychota in Taber on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
As a result of the restrictions regarding COVID-19, and the government’s recommendations, a private Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Taber. Burial followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Besides his loving wife Diana, Norm is survived by two daughters Karen Klassen of Taber and her children Keagan Klassen and Kayla (Ian) Odland and their children Charlotte and Mason; Marilyn Chychota (Matt Foreman) of Phoenix. He is also survived by his brother Roger Chychota; nieces Michelle (Brian) Chita, Leora Baron, Lori Anne Baron and Linda Baron; nephews James (Julie) Chychota, John (Jana) Baron and Mike (Debbie) Baron.
He was predeceased by an infant son and daughter, parents Peter and Anne Chychota, sister-in-law Donna Chychota, in-law’s John (Ann) Baron and nephew Glenn Chychota.
Norm was the first born to Peter and Anne Chychota in Welling, Ontario on February 8, 1941. The family moved to Sifton, Manitoba to farm, raising cattle and chickens as well as growing crops. He then earned a degree in agriculture before moving to medicine. He eventually fulfilled a degree in General Surgery from the University of Manitoba and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Norm married Diana Baron in Winnipeg on September 28, 1963 at St. Andrew’s Greek Catholic Church. Norm was a passionate, dedicated man that spent any free time with his animals, garden, family and friends. He was active in the community in many ways including being a very good doctor, sports, Kiwanis, Alcoholics Anonymous and coin collecting to name a few. He will be missed but not forgotten.
