Dan Creighton

1960 - 2018

Daniel Kennedy Creighton, passed away in Taber on Friday, August 3, 2018 at the age of 58 years.

Family and close friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

A private burial service was held prior to the funeral service at the Taber Memorial Garden.

Family and close friends were welcome to attend the funeral service at the Evangelical Free Church, 5431 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.

He is survived by his children Melissa Creighton (Mike Lanteigne) of New Maryland, New Brunswick, Michelle Creighton of Calgary, Josh Creighton of Calgary and by a granddaughter Stella Lanteigne; his parents Gordon and Norma Creighton of Taber; siblings Brenda (John) Doerksen, London, Ontario and Colin (Patty) Creighton of Calgary. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew Lisa, Jennifer and Julia Doerksen and Zach and Anika Creighton.

Dan was born in Drumheller on July 29, 1960, the eldest of three children. At the age of two, he travelled with his parents on a shipping freighter to embark on a cross cultural experience as the son of missionaries. He remained in Africa for twelve years attending Bingham Academy Boarding School until he was fifteen years of age. The family moved back to Canada and Dan graduated from Vauxhall High School in 1978 with a passion for motorcycles and a sense of humour like no other. He then attended Berean Bible College in Calgary from 1981 - 1982. Later in Calgary, Dan met Ingrid Heier whom he married in 1987. He completed the Macro Economics & Fundamentals of Business Management program at Mount Royal College from 1988 - 1989, sharing an interest with his daughter who would inevitably come to pursue a career in a similar field. Dan became a father to three beautiful children whom he loved dearly and his greatest happiness stemmed from revelling in their accomplishments and creating moments of joy for them. His passion for computers aided him in developing his career and he pursued skill development from 2003 - 2005 and obtained Dale Carnegie Skills training. Dan was an apt business man and through his talent and love for wood working he created his own business under the name “Creighton’s Hobby Corner” where he was able to share his talent with others all across Alberta while partnering with DeWalt tools and Black & Decker Enterprises, paving the way for independent design and artistic appreciation for his son who has developed into a talented artist embarking on a similar journey. He then moved to Taber and obtained employment at Rogers Sugar where his skills as a previous manager and dedication shone through. Dan enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, reading, cooking, technology and had an interest in culture. He was able to drive across Canada with his daughter and build a relationship with his granddaughter Stella sharing his competitive card playing spirit and love for other’s happiness, which his daughter carries forward. His loyalty to his children was inherent throughout his life and his kindness attracted a cat with nowhere else to go, to be his companion. Dan remained in Taber until his passing.
