Rose Tyo
1924 - 2018
Augustina Rose Tyo, beloved wife of the late Jim Tyo, passed away in Taber on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the age of 93 years.
Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family in the lower hall at St. Theodore’s Anglican Church, 5120 - 44 Avenue, Taber on Wednesday August 1, 2018 between 2:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. A private service followed at the Taber Memorial Garden.
Rose is survived by her daughter Fran Dogterom of Taber; grandchildren Tim (Leagh) Dogterom, Sandra (Vince) Marthaller, Janine (Bruce) MacMurchy and Denise Dogterom; six great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother David (Linda) Beglaw, sisters-in-law Helen Beglaw, Mona Beglaw, Dwyla Beglaw, Imelda Beglaw, Kaye Beglaw and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband James Tyo; parents Mina (nee Jaster) and Reinhold Beglaw; Jim’s parents Gladys and Don Tyo; son-in-law Francis Dogterom; siblings Elsie (Joe) Gugelka, Arnold Beglaw, Ruth (Julius) Varga, Herman Beglaw, Amanda (Louis) Nagy, Esther (Isaac) Bateman, Martin (Loretta) Beglaw, Robert Beglaw, Edward Beglaw, Clifford Beglaw, Williard Beglaw and Jim’s brother Stanley (Doreen) Tyo.
Rose was born in Medicine Hat on August 28, 1924. She received her schooling in Retlaw. She worked as a waitress for Mrs. Brady in Vauxhall before marrying Jim in 1943. They farmed in the Rolling Green area south of Retlaw. Rose was hard working and helped with all aspects of farm life.
Everyone was welcome at her table whether is was a feast or eggs and potatoes. Rose was a talented woman who entered her handicrafts and baking in fairs winning many prizes. She baked bread, buns and doughnuts for farmers markets and many social functions in the community.
Rose knitted outfits for teddy bears to donate to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary and dish cloths for everyone. She loved children of all ages, enjoyed playing cards and board games and took up coloring in her last years.
Rose was a resident of the Clearview Lodge for fourteen years before moving to Linden View where she spent the last two and a half months of her life.
