Ralph Lee

1920 - 2018

Ralph Horace Lee, beloved husband of Doreen Lee (nee Conquergood), passed away peacefully at the Bow Island Health Centre on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the age of 97 years.

 Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber on Thursday, June 28, 2018 between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

 The Funeral Service was held at the Foremost Community Hall, 802 - 1 Avenue West, Foremost on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. A private burial followed at the Foremost Cemetery. 

 Ralph is survived by his wife of seventy one years, Doreen; son David (Carol) Lee of Hoping; daughters Sandra (Madison) Barrows of Etzikom and Debbie (Rod) Cowie of Foremost, as well as seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Eldon (Conchita) Conquergood; sisters-in-law Ivy Lee, Mary Lee and Jessie Conquergood.

 He was predeceased by his grandson Doug Barrows; parents Arthur and Nora Lee; brothers Glen and Eddie Lee; sister Lora McKnight;  infant sister Lillian; brothers-in-law Keith Conquergood and Dean McKnight; in-laws Jack and Allene Barrows, Ken and Elsie Conquergood; sisters-in-law Vi Conquergood and Shirley Conquergood.

 Ralph was born October 10, 1920. He joined the army in 1941 and was discharged in 1946, spending time overseas in WWII. He married the love of his life, Doreen on November 9,1946. They built a life together raising their family on the farm in the Hoping area.

 Dad was proud of his garden and grew the best corn and rhubarb. He was one of the founders that brought 4-H to the area, organizing the Shortgrass 4-H Beef Club and was a leader for many years.

 When the farming was done in the fall, Dad and Mom spent thirty years traveling to Arizona for the winters.

 A kind, respected man of the community he will be remembered for his big smile and friendly disposition. He was dearly loved by his family.
