Frank Brewin

1934 - 2018

Rowland Frank Brewin Jr., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family in Taber on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 83 years.

A private funeral service was held at Knox United Church, Taber.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Royal Canadian Legion, 5205 – 48 Avenue, Taber on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 between 3:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Colleen and their three boys Rowland “Roy” Brewin (Berva Kesler) and his family Dalyce, Tami Jo, Dustin and Frank’s great granddaughter Shaydance; Gordon “Brent” (Myrna) Brewin and their family Devin and Janessa; Terry “Brian”(Deb) Brewin and their family Lindsay, Denver (Natasha) and Frank’s great grandson Benson. He is also survived by his sister Eleanor Wagner, brother Tim Brewin (Linda McGregor-Hurry), sisters-in-law Mary Brewin, Margaret Brewin and brother-in-law Allen Scott and their families.

Frank was predeceased by his brothers Alfred (Lillian), Norman, Jack, Gerald and Rodney Brewin; sisters Monica (Jim) Berryhill and Marjorie Scott; brother-in-law Harry Wagner.

Frank was the fourth child of Marjorie and Rowland Frank Brewin Sr. He was born on the family homestead south of Purple Springs on June 22, 1934. A large farm and ranch family, they were very close and took care of each other. He received his early education at the Sherburne and Hudson schools south of Purple Springs and later attended W.R. Myers High School in Taber. Frank married Colleen Tolton on July 19, 1958, this being their sixtieth year together. Frank and Colleen started their family in 1959, when their first son Roy was born. One year later Brent arrived, with Brian following in 1963.

In the early seventies, Frank and his brothers started importing various breeds of exotic cattle from Europe. Frank taught his boys what hard work really was and a love of the land. He was very proud of his family and their accomplishments. Frank and Colleen and their boys also showed cattle together, with Agribition in Regina being a highlight.

Frank and Colleen always enjoyed their yearly ski trips and camping trips with friends and family, with Waterton an annual treat. As years went on, they expanded their horizons and became snowbirds, travelling down to Arizona for the past twenty four years, where they met wonderful friends.

His community involvement included leading 4-H, the boys cubs troop and as a board member at the Sherburne Hall. Frank was a leader in the Grassy Lake 4-H Beef Club for over eleven years. He was also instrumental in the development of the Chin Coulee Gas Co-op, serving there for over twenty five years.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
